All Terms and Conditions and contracts formed between Gates of Vanitas Ltd and its users and customers shall be governed by the law of England and Wales. These Terms and Conditions are subject to change at any time without prior notice.

Order cut-off times
Before 3pm on Monday - for Tuesday shipping
Before 3pm on Tuesday - for Wednesday shipping

Shipments are with Royal Mail using one of the following methods, which you can select at checkout:
'Tracked 24 with Signature' = £5.60 (Free for orders £70 & over)
'Tracked 48 with Signature' = £4.70
'Tracked 48' = £2.80 (Free for orders £50-£69)

There is no charge for shipping where indicated on specific items marked 'free shipping included'.

Gates of Vanitas is not liable for lost or stolen packages. Delivery times are the responsibility of the shipping company; Gates of Vanitas is not liable for any delays in delivery after transfer of the order to the shipping company. Gates of Vanitas will not be held responsible for additional charges incurred if packages are returned to Gates of Vanitas HQ due to customer errors in the shipping address, customer absence, or package refusal.

RETURNS
All items are carefully handmade and condition checked before shipping. In the event that you wish to return the item please be aware that this is only possible for ready to ship items, as outlined below. 

For ready to ship items 
We offer a 14 day return option.
Any returns must be notified in advance through email correspondence with Gates of Vanitas. Please get in touch within 14 days of receiving your item if you have questions or concerns about it and we will endeavor to resolve the issue. If you wish to proceed with a return you must return the goods within 14 days of notifying us and they must be packed carefully and securely to avoid any damage in transit. You are responsible for the cost of return shipping, which must provide a tracking number and include insurance to cover the item's full retail value.

For bespoke commissioned items
We cannot accept returns, all sales in that instance are final. In the unlikely event that a bespoke piece is faulty, please contact us immediately to discuss the matter, we will endeavour to make this right and explore whether a repair or refund is due.

DAMAGES
Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately and within 14 days of delivery if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item. We will need to see photographs of the damage prior to agreeing to a repair or refund. We can then evaluate the issue and aim to make it right for you.

EXCLUSIONS to the returns policy include:
* Any item which has been damaged through improper or careless use
* Any item which has been repaired or adjusted by yourselves or another third party
* Any earrings for pierced ears, due to hygiene reasons. The exception would be if the item is faulty or was damaged during shipping.

 

FAQ's

What are the cut-off times for ordering?
Unless otherwise stated in occasional holiday / seasonal shipping variations on the website, the usual cut-off details are as follows:
Items are usually shipped two days per week, on Tuesday and Wednesday. To ensure that your item/s are shipped on those days, please place your order before either 3pm on Monday (for Tuesday shipping) or before 3pm on Tuesday (for Wednesday shipping)

Will you be shipping internationally in the future?
Yes, we currently offer UK only shipping however we will expand to international shipping from late 2025.
